Kargil, November 21, 2025: The Hon’ble Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd. Jaffer Akhoon, attended the Annual Day-cum-School Magazine Release Ceremony of Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kargil.
The event marked the formal unveiling of the school magazine Khazina-e-Noor and showcased the academic and co-curricular achievements of the institution.
In his address, Dr. Mohd. Jaffer Akhoon expressed pride in being part of an educational celebration and emphasized the crucial role of girls’ education in the progress of society.
He stated that girls today are excelling in every field and expressed hope that the students of GGHS Kargil would continue to contribute meaningfully to society.
The CEC congratulated Principal Kaneez Fatima and the entire teaching staff for organizing a successful and meaningful event. He spoke to the students about contemporary social issues, especially the responsible use of the internet, encouraging them to utilize technology judiciously for their academic growth. He also reminded students that along with fundamental rights, performing fundamental duties is essential for the overall development of the region.
Highlighting recent administrative reforms, Dr. Akhoon informed the gathering about the new transfer policy for teachers, masters, and lecturers, calling it a fair and transparent system designed to benefit both students and the teaching community. He also proposed that students be taken on educational tours to important infrastructures such as the Solid Waste Management Plant to enhance their civic sense and practical understanding.
The event was attended by Principal DIET Kargil Khurshida, Chief Education Officer Sonam Wangchuk, Principal Higher Secondary School Trespone Sajjad Hussain, and Principal Boys Higher Secondary School Kargil Teswang Dorjay, among others.
Principal Kaneez Fatima, in her welcome address, extended warm greetings to all dignitaries and highlighted the achievements of the school, its students, and the dedicated efforts of the teachers. She also spoke about the significance of the school magazine and expressed gratitude to her staff for their commitment and enthusiasm toward students’ development.
As part of the programme, the Hon’ble CEC virtually inaugurated the newly constructed school gate, Atal Tinkering Lab, and the conference hall. Students presented a range of cultural and creative performances, including poetry recitations on diverse themes, Jabro dance, a sketch highlighting the harmful effects of social media, and a Shina cultural presentation.
The ceremony concluded with an award distribution segment recognizing students for their achievements in academics and co-curricular activities both within Ladakh and outside the region. Awards were also presented to outstanding teachers for their exemplary service.
