    2-day District Level Multilingual Hussaini Mushaira concludes in Kargil

    Kargil, July 23, 2024: The 2-day District Level Multilingual Hussaini Mushaira organized by Ladakh Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages (LAACL), Kargil, concluded today at Academy Hall, Kargil.
    Nasir Hussain Munshi, Councilor Choskore, LAHDC, Kargil, was the chief guest on the occasion. Padma Shree Awardee Akhoon Asgar Ali Basharat and Aga Sayed Raza Rizvi were the guests of honour and special guests, respectively.
    On the second day, more than 20 poets presented their poetic renderings, primarily focusing on paying rich tributes to the martyrs of Karbala and reflecting upon the philosophy of martyrdom.
    The poetic session was presided over by noted senior poets Akhone Asgar Ali Basharat, Aga Syed Raza Razvi, and Mohd Ibrahim Rahi.
    The poets who presented their poetic renderings included: Aga Syed Raza Razvi (Purgi), Mohd Ibrahim Rahi (Purgi), Mohd Hussain Rehnuma (Purgi), Ashraf Ali Sagar (Balti/Urdu), Mohd Yaseen Ansari (Shina/Urdu), Gh. Murtaza Advocate (Purgi/Urdu), Faroz Ahmad Charaag (Shina/Urdu), Fida Hussain Wazir Fida (Purgi), Haji Gh. Qadir Zaki (Shina/Urdu), Haji Mohd Baqir Suabah (Purgi/Urdu), Mukhtar Zahid Badgami (Shina/Urdu), Zakir Hussain Karbalai (Purgi/Urdu), Mohd Ali Baba (Purgi), Ab. Rehman Misbahi (Shina/Urdu), Abdul Hadi Balti (Balti), Ahsaan Ali Bismil (Shina/Urdu), Dr. Ilyas Kargili (Urdu/Purgi), Arif Hussain Ladakhi (Dardi Aryan), Ahmad Hussain Olpa (Purgi), Liyaqat Ali (Urdu/Shina).
    Speaking on the occasion, Nasir Hussain Munshi said that it is an overwhelming occasion for the academy to pay tribute to Imam Hussain (A.S). The academy has been organising such events and the Hussaini Mushaira paid tribute to the martyrs of Karbala which is an appreciable step taken by the LAACL Kargil.
    He said that the message and sacrifice of Imam Hussain (AS) transcends across the world without the prejudice of religion, community and creed and the way poets have paid tributes to Imam Hussain (AS) and the martyrs of Karbala in this poetic session was a great experience to see.
    He further said that Karbala is an institution where we can learn how to improve the standards of a civilized society, and how to uphold the concept of justice and to stand firm against the oppressors and always do greater sacrifices to let good prevail.
    In his speech he quoted the famous Urdu poem on Imam Hussain (A.S) “Insaan ko beedar toh honai do, Har qoom pukarai ga Ya Hussain (A.S).”
    Similarly, Munshi quoted Josh Malihabadi’s poem: “Haqeeqat-e-abadi hai maqami Hussainiyat, Badalte rahe hai andaz sitam magar.”
    Munshi recalled the Salt Revolution initiated by Mahatma Gandhi, noting that Gandhi was inspired by Imam Hussain (A.S) and led the revolution with 72 revolutionary members.
    Munshi stressed that the seniors poets should be endeared by the society and literary community as they had shown the path of literature to the present generation. He said that the participation of youth towards poetry is overwhelming, however they should learn the nuances of poetry from the seniors with dedication and try to excel in it.
    Aga Sayed Raza Rizvi “Sadir-e-Majilis” also highlighted the role of poets, writers, and intellectuals in society, emphasizing their ability to foster positive attitudes and enlightenment through creativity. He praised LAACL Kargil for organizing the Hussaini Mushaira and urged the continuation of such programs in future.
    Deputy Secretary, LAACL, Kargil, Nazir Hussain, highlighted the objectives of the literary event, which aimed to pay poetic tributes to the martyrs of Karbala and to promote religious poetry in vernacular languages. He emphasized the importance of providing a platform for budding poets to refine their abilities under the guidance of senior poets.
    Head Assistant, LAACL, Zakir Hussain, presented a vote of thanks to the dignitaries, officers, poets, guests, and others who contributed to the event’s success.
    Among others present on the occasion were poets, writers, district officers and many literary enthusiasts. Noted Urdu Scholar, Dr Ilyas Kargili conducted the proceedings of the poetic session. Over 50 senior and novice poets from across the district, representing Urdu, Balti, Purgi, and Dard Sheen, Dard Arya languages, participated in the literary program.
