    3-day training on fodder cultivation, conservation and utilization conducted across Kargil district.
    Kargil, August 31, 2024: In an effort to enhance the knowledge and skills of farmers in fodder cultivation, conservation, and utilization, Animal Husbandry Department Kargil, under the guidance of Dr. Gulzar Hussain, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Kargil, organized a series of one-day training programs across Kargil district.
    These sessions were held at three strategic locations: BVO Office Drass, Stock Assistant Training Institute Kurbathang, and BVO Sanko, on the 28th, 29th, and 30th of August, respectively.
    The training programs were conducted in collaboration with Regional Fodder Station, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, Department of Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, and Dairying, Shuhama Alusteng, Ganderbal, Srinagar.
    The initiative aimed to equip local farmers with the latest techniques and practices in fodder management, ensuring they can maximize the nutritional value and availability of fodder for their livestock throughout the year.
    The events witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of farmers across the block, who were keen to adopt new methods to enhance their farming practices.
    The training sessions featured expert speakers who provided in-depth insights into various aspects of fodder cultivation, including the selection of high-yielding fodder varieties, modern techniques for fodder conservation, and effective utilization strategies to ensure livestock receive optimal nutrition.
    The experts also highlighted the importance of sustainable fodder practices in the context of the unique climatic conditions of Kargil, emphasizing the need for innovative approaches to meet the fodder requirements of the region’s livestock.
    The attendees expressed their gratitude for the valuable knowledge imparted during the sessions and appreciated the proactive steps taken by Animal Husbandry Department Kargil in organizing these training programs. On the occasion high yielding fodder seeds were also distributed among the farmers.
    On this initiative Dr. Gulzar Hussain, CAHO Kargil in his message expressed his gratitude and thanked to the team of experts from regional fodder development station and reaffirmed the department’s commitment to the welfare of the cattle rearer and dairy farming community in Kargil.
    He stressed that such initiatives are crucial for the overall development of the animal husbandry sector in the region, especially in ensuring the sustainability and productivity of livestock farming.
    The collaboration between the Animal Husbandry Department and the Regional Fodder Station reflects a shared commitment to enhancing the livelihoods of farmers by providing them with the necessary tools and knowledge to succeed in their endeavors.
