    GDC Drass observes World No Tobacco Day.

    Kargil, May 31, 2023: Govt. Degree College Drass today observed World No Tobacco Day to promote awareness about the serious consequences of tobacco usage.
    The event was aimed to educate the public about the health hazards associated with tobacco use. The theme for this year’s World No Tobacco Day is “We need food, not tobacco”.
    Speaking about the significance of the day, Dr Amjad Ali Abbassi, Principal of the college stressed students to acquaint themselves with health hazards associated with tobacco use.
    He advised the students to make the college campus a tobacco-free zone and appealed them to spread the message among their peers and with family members as well.
    Dr Mohd Ali, Assistant Professor of Zoology, Dr Zahoor Ahmad, Assistant Professor of Economics and Kaneez Fatima, Assistant Professor Education also spoke about the importance of celebrating the annual event.
    They talked at length about various diseases related to the consumption of tobacco and advised the students to stay away from tobacco-related products. They spoke about the devastating impact of tobacco on individuals, families, and communities.
    A short documentary on the impact of smoking was also screened during the event. Sajida Bano and Shakeel Ahmad, 6th-semester students also shared their thoughts about the negative effect of tobacco consumption.
    Further, they thanked the college administration for organizing such events at the college campus. The program ended with an open question-and-answer session in which teachers answered queries raised by the students.
