Addl. Secretary Higher Education Ladakh chairs concluding session of 2-day Ladakh Education Fair at Sankoo Campus of GDC Kargil.
Kargil, August 25, 2023: Additional Secretary Higher Education/Joint Director Information, Ladakh, Imteeaz Kacho today attended the concluding session of the two-day Ladakh Education Fair held at the Sankoo Campus of Government Degree College Kargil. He was the Chief Guest at the occasion while Dr.Jaffar Ali Khan, Dean, College Affairs/ Director, Tribal Research Institute, University of Ladakh was the Guest of Honour.
During the event, the Additional Secretary, Higher Education congratulated Dr.Saleem Ahmed, the Nodal Officer Sankoo of Sankoo Campus of GDC Kargil and his entire team for hosting the Ladakh Education Fair on such a significant and impressive scale.
He then commended the participating students for their enthusiastic engagement in the event which allowed them to explore a wide range of career opportunities and gain profound insights.
Furthermore, he acknowledged the dedicated efforts of the Assistant Professors, resource persons and other stakeholders who worked tirelessly to organize the second edition of the Ladakh Education Fair and towards making it successful.
Emphasizing the significance of expertise across diverse fields, the Additional Secretary underscored the value of skilled knowledge. He advised students against relying solely on government jobs and encouraged them to explore alternative career avenues aligned with their individual interests.
He also said that many more skill-oriented courses will be introduced in all the colleges of Ladakh in the coming years which will help to develop various skills among the students so that they can generate employment on their own. He advised the students to take the existing skilled courses seriously so that they can become employable while studying in college. He then informed the gathering that the Ladakh Education Fair has and will become a regular feature on the calendar of the Degree Colleges of Ladakh.
While recounting his journey from his student days to that of a career in the J&K Administrative Services, he shared insights about the Civil Service Examination and strategies to crack it. He advised students to cultivate reading habits and gain knowledge to develop their personalities.
Kacho also emphasized the significance of mental health, advising students not to succumb to societal peer pressure. He suggested that students should utilize the internet effectively to gather knowledge from diverse online sources.
Subsequently, he distributed participation certificates among the students who engaged in various activities throughout the 2-day Ladakh Education Fair.
In his address, Dr.Jaffar Ali Khan, Guest of Honour, expressed hope at the early sanction of the Degree College in Sankoo as the area has vast potential for higher education. Further, he lauded the efforts of the Sankoo Campus authorities towards making the Second Edition of Ladakh Education Fair a grand success. He then expressed satisfaction over the fact that the student fraternity has played a vital role in making the fair popular in Kargil.
Earlier during the day, the Additional Secretary, Higher Education visited GDC Kargil and had a fruitful one-on-one interactive session with the students.The topics ranged from career prospects in various fields, the need to inculcate good reading habits, stress management, time management to emphasis on effectively utilising one’s inner capabilities without succumbing to societal pressures. Further, he lauded the confidence level of the students and encouraged them to be inquisitive about any issue under the sun.
The Additional Secretary also visited various stalls on exhibition in the College Campus and expressed satisfaction at the success of the Ladakh Education Fair and it’s utility towards bringing the entire student community under one roof.
