Ladakh Education Fair concludes at GMDC Zanskar.
Kargil, August 25, 2023: The two day long Ladakh Education Fair 2023 concluded today at Government Model Degree College Zanskar and featured a diverse range of sessions.
The event saw active participation from various associations, dignitaries, teachers and around 200 students from different schools in Zanskar region.
Khewang Assistant Treasury Officer Zanskar graced the event as chief guest. Mohd Ishaq I/C principal welcomed the guests with traditional khataks. He briefed audience about previous day sessions.
Khewang shared his experiences and education scenario of Zanskar in the past and emphasised the students to avail the available modern learning facilities to their entire satisfaction.
In the first session, Dr Abid Hussain, faculty of Zoology talked at length about the various Scholarship Schemes. He appraised the audience, about Minority, Tribal, Ladakh REWA, PMSSS, Overseas and other Schemes.
Dr Jamphel Sheyan Faculty of English delivered a lecture on NEP 2020 and acquainted the audience about the various features of the policy. In the 2nd session expert talk sessions were conducted.
Wangtak President Zanskar Conservancy spoke at length about “Water Crisis in Zanskar”. He emphasised about the receding rate of glaciers.
Maaz Sheikh, a Researcher of Alberta University presented a presentation on the “documentation and revitalization of Zanskari language”.
He said that Zanskar language is considered an endangered as this language is much influenced with the language of Leh, Kargil and Manali.
Tsering Motop spoke at length on the “Tourism opportunities in Zanskar”. He said that Zanskar will soon become a tourist destination and will improve the economy of the region.
He emphasised on the need of development of hotel infrastructure and exploration of other avenues for attraction of tourism in Zanskar. Ali Khan Librarian conducted the proceedings of the sessions.
In the post lunch session, a documentary film was also screened. In the end of the day cultural programme was organized. Two skits were displayed by the students of Duzin Photang High School and Lamdon Model High School.
Both the skits were featured with great professionalism and communicated message on the importance of culture and education.
A dance competition was also the part of the event. T. Dolkar faculty Environment conducted the program proceeding while Splazes and Dolkar acted the role of Jury.
President Student Zanskar, Stazin Tsetuk also spoke on the occasion and impressed the students to lead a role in the development of Zanskar.
Awards, trophies and momentos were presented to students and experts for their active contributions in the fair. The concluding day of the fair provided a platform for educational and cultural exchange.
