    Road Safety Month: CEC Dr Jaffer attends awareness program at Conference Hall.

    Kargil, Feb 06, 2024: Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akoon today attended one day program on general awareness and use of road infrastructure, black spots, road construction, road safety audit and traffic signs organized by R&B Division Kargil in collaboration with NHIDCL and PMU Kargil at Conference Hall, Kargil.
    The program was organized as part of a series of awareness of Road Safety Month from 15th Jan to 14th Feb.
    During the program, Executive Engineer R&B, Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO), General Manager, NHIDCL, Executive Officer Municipal Corporation, Inspector Traffic Unit Kargil, representatives of taxi, truck, bus, Omni Van unions were present.
    Speaking on the occasion, CEC Kargil thanked R&B, NHIDCL and other departments for organizing such an important awareness program to educate the driver community to inform them about various measures of road safety and its importance to save precious lives.
    The CEC said road infrastructure has been developed over the years all over the district and also road connectivity to most of the villages has been ensured which provides accessible mobility to the common people.
    CEC Dr Jaffer said people should be aware time and again about traffic rules and interpretation of sign boards. He said such programs will help to develop discipline among the general public and avoid fatal accidents and save precious lives.
    The CEC said in the coming two years there will be a lot of developmental works to be executed in the town area. He requested all the stakeholders to support in executing the developmental works saying that development is a collaborative effort.
    CEC Kargil also gave a patient listening to the demands projected by the president taxi union including black topping of taxi stand, toilet provisions at various tourist places, installation of road signage’s at various locations, construction of passenger waiting hall and other demands. The CEC said in consultation with the concerned department the issues will be looked into.
    Earlier, the R & B department gave a detailed presentation on road safety activities, measures to avoid accidents, traffic signs and symbols, cautionary signs, and on other related themes were discussed in detail.
