    Chairman of Reservation Committee for ALC Ladakh, ALTOA delegation call on Hon’ble Lt Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd).

    Leh, June 13, 2024: Chairman, Reservation Committee for ALC Ladakh, Justice Bansi Lal Bhat, who is the former Judge of the High Court of J&K along with Additional Secretary, Reservation Committee for ALC, Shri Tsering Motup, called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat. Commissioner/ Secretary to HLG, Shri L Franklin, IAS, was also present in the meeting
    Chairman, Reservation Committee for ALC, Justice Bansi Lal Bhat apprised the HLG of the ongoing exercise of the committee to identify areas adjoining the Actual Line of Control (ALC) for the purpose of reservation under the J&K Reservation Act 2004 as applicable to the UT of Ladakh. He also informed the HLG about the committee’s meeting with the stakeholders.
    The HLG appreciated the work of the committee and wished them the best for their work.
    A delegation comprising member of All Ladakh Tour Operators Association (ALTOA), Leh led by its President, Shri Tsewang Dorjay called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat. Commissioner/Secretary to HLG, Shri L Franklin, IAS and Secretary, Tourism, Ladakh, Shri Vikram Singh Malik, IAS, were present in the meeting.
    Shri Dorjay apprised the HLG of various issues, viz. making Ladakh Resident Certificate mandatory for the registration and renewal of various trades in the tourism industry, the establishment of training centre/ institute for tourist guides, the usage of fees paid to the Indian Mountaineering Foundation for various purposes, providing satellite phone due to the lack of telecommunication connectivity in remote areas of Ladakh, the installation of check post at various locations, the lack of large number flights to Ladakh to cater to the footfall of tourists, recreation of Ladakh Tourism logo, installation of traffic lights/signals in Leh city and the inclusion of Leh city into a ‘No-Horn Zone’ to minimise noise pollution in the city.
    The HLG stated that the UT Administration would hold a meeting of all stakeholders as people’s cooperation is required in this regard. He directed Secretary, Tourism, Shri Vikram Singh Malik, to hold the said meeting of stakeholders to discuss various tourism-related issues and matters.
