    Dy Chairman-led delegation comprising Councillors from Nubra sub-division & monks of Diskit monastery call on Hon’ble Lt Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd).
    Leh, June 20, 2024: A delegation from Nubra sub-division comprising Deputy Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Shri Tsering Angchuk; Councillor Panamik, Shri Tsering Sandup; Councillor Hunder, Shri Kunzang Lotus and Councillor Tigger, Shri Rigzen Lundup, called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat. Advisor to the HLG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS; Commissioner/Secretary, Dr Vasanthakumar N, IAS; Commissioner/Secretary to the HLG, L Franklin, IAS and PCCF, Shri Brij Mohan Sharma, IFoS, were present in the meeting.
    Shri Angchok apprised the HLG that the development activities in the Nubra sub-division have been affected as Nubra, which falls in the Karakoram Wildlife Sanctuary, is a wildlife-protected area. He informed that development works in the sub-division are suffering due to the unavailability of stone crushers and the urgent need for gravel and sand for various construction works. He also informed about the issues faced by the people of Nubra in transporting construction materials from Leh to Nubra sub-division.
    Commissioner/Secretary, Dr Vasanthakumar informed the HLG and the Councillors about the availability of stone crusher plants outside the wildlife-protected areas and the need for the owners of the stone crushers to apply for mining permission to operate their plants. He also informed that gravel could be made available for construction activities when the owners of the stone crushers apply for the permit.
    The HLG highlighted the need to include freight charges in the detailed project reports (DPRs) and legalising stone crusher plants at the earliest. He instructed Shri Brij Mohan Sharma to hold a meeting with the owners of the stone crusher plants to facilitate the registration of application for mining permission.
    A delegation comprising monks of Diskit monastery led by Deputy Chairman, LAHDC, Leh, Shri Tsering Angchuk called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant of Governor, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat. Advisor to HLG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS; Commissioner/Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Dr N Vasanthakumar N, IAS; Commissioner/ Secretary to HLG, Shri L Franklin, IAS and Secretary, Rural Development Department, Shri Amit Sharma, IAS, were present in the meeting.
    Shri Angchuk apprised the HLG of the issue of drinking water supply at Diskit Monastery. He informed the HLG about the survey conducted by a private agency and the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) to provide drinking water supply at the monastery. He also informed about the expense incurred for conducting the survey and preparing the DPR.
    The HLG assured Shri Angchuk that the UT Administration is willing to spend money for the DPR so that monks at Diskit monastery have access to drinking water. He asked the concerned Secretary to take necessary steps at the earliest.
