    CEC Kargil chairs meeting regarding construction of Drass-Pashkum road.
    Kargil, Aug 12, 2024: Chairman/Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon today held a meeting with concerned officers from Army, VIJAYAK and District Administration regarding the construction of NH-01 Drass-Pashkum road.
    The meeting was attended by Executive Councilor, Revenue, LAHDC, Kargil, Kacho Mohammad Feroz; Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Suse; Additional SP Kargil, Mujeeb ur Rehman; Brigadier Vinay Bhal; Chief Engineer VIJAYAK, Commander AK Singh 762 BRTF; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Mohammed Shareef Kakpori; Tehsildar Kargil, representatives of executing agencies and contractors.
    During the meeting various issues and bottle necks pertaining to the road construction work at NH-01 were addressed. The concerned officer of VIJAYAK informed the CEC that the land, tree compensation of beneficiaries has been deposited at the end of the Revenue Department.
    The concerned official also informed the CEC that the road execution works got delayed due to various issues raised by villagers at various locations of Paskum, Akchamal, Kaksar and Kharboo.
    While addressing the various issues, CEC Kargil directed Executive Councilor, Kacho Mohammad Feroz to discuss the matter with the locals and address the issues pertaining to the road construction work at Pashkum village.
    The CEC Kargil directed ACR and Tehsildar Kargil to conduct a joint assessment survey at Akchamal village and furnish the report at the earliest adding that accordingly a meeting will be arranged with the Councilor and local representatives to address the issues.
    At Kaksar village, VIJAYAK officials informed the CEC that the village road will be temporarily disconnected from the highway for two months. During this period, an alternative route through Kharboo village will be provided for daily commutes until the new road connects with the highway. The CEC said he will personally talk with the local representatives and villagers for this temporary arrangement.
    Similarly, other issues were discussed in the meeting thoroughly. The CEC asked Commander AK Singh to address the issues of the locals at the construction site of Shilikchey Bridge.
    CEC Dr Akhoon also instructed to execute the widening work of road from Petrol Pump to Iqbal Bridge at possible locations.
    The CEC also directed Commander AK Singh to immediately deploy men and machinery for widening the curves on Leh-Kargil bypass road near Shilikchey.
