Kargil, August 23, 2024: A comprehensive mock drill for disaster management was conducted on Thursday at Khangral, Shakar Chiktan, under the supervision of SDM, Dr. Sanjat Bhardwaj and undertaken on ground by Naib Tehsildar, Ghulam Rasool.
The exercise aimed to enhance the preparedness and coordination of various departments in handling emergency situations effectively.
The drill involved active participation from multiple government departments, including the Police, Fire & Emergency Services, Health Department, PDD, Revenue and local administration. Each department played a crucial role in executing the mock disaster exercise which simulated a landslide with causalities.
The SDM at Khangral closely monitored the drill, ensuring that all protocols were followed and that inter-departmental coordination was seamless. The exercise tested the response time, communication channels, and the ability of the teams to manage resources and provide timely assistance to the affected population.
The mock drill concluded with a debriefing session where the SDM and other officials reviewed the performance and discussed strategies to enhance disaster preparedness in the future. The drill was deemed a success, demonstrating the readiness of the involved departments to respond to real-life emergencies.
The SDM expressed gratitude to various departments involved in the drill and appreciated the passionate involvement of the volunteers.
