    CEC chairs meeting with district, sub-division level officers to review District Capex, other issues in Zanskar.
    Kargil, Sept 13, 2024: Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon today chaired a meeting at Dak Bungalow Zanskar, with district and sub-division level officers to review and discuss various department-wise issues under District Capex plan, State Sector, and other projects.
    The meeting was attended by Executive Councillor LAHDC Kargil, Er. Phunhok Tashi; Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse; SSP Kargil, Shree Ram R; Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Zanskar, Romil Singh Donk; Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kargil; Chief Controller Finance; Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD); Chief Planning Officer (CPO) Kargil; Superintendent Handloom; Councillor Karsha; Council Cha Constituency and other divisional officers.
    Dr. Jaffer Akhoon reviewed the status of multiple departments including Education, Power, Tourism, PHE, Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Handloom, Health, Cooperative, Animal Husbandry, Agriculture, Youth Services and Sports, National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), and works under the Rural Development Department. He urged the officers to expedite ongoing projects and establish clear timelines for their completion.
    The CEC also called for a legal framework to resolve disputes related to various projects, ensuring smooth progress.
    Discussions were held on the Cha Irrigation Canal and the Jal Jeevan Mission status in Itchar, Stongday, Karsha, and other villages.
    Dr. Akhoon also inquired about availability of essential medicines, status of ambulances, and arrangement of remedial classes for students in the region.
    He emphasized the importance of clearing liabilities and speeding up the progress of projects under the SAMAGRA Shiksha initiative and the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
    The CEC was informed about the shortage of staff in the Tourism Department and he called for immediate action to address the issue.
    He congratulated people of Zanskar for getting district status and reiterated that efforts would continue to resolve issues and work towards the development of the area.
    Dr. Akhoon praised the successful organisation of the 9th Ladakh Zanskar Festival-2024 and applauded all officers for their dedicated efforts. He proposed the introduction of a ‘Green Charge’ for tourists, with the funds contributing to the sustainable development of Kargil.
