    CEC attends integrated communication and outreach programme in Kargil.
    Kargil, October 08, 2024: Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, today attended Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme held at Syed Mehdi Memorial Hall, Kargil.
    The event was organized by the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, focusing on Poshan Abhiyaan, Mission LiFE, and the New Criminal Laws -2023.
    Ghulam Abass, Director, CBC Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Field Publicity Officer, Shahid Lone, and FPO Naseer Ahmad Rathar, along with students from various schools, ASHA workers, and others attended the event.
    Addressing the gathering, Dr. Akhoon lauded the CBC for organizing the three-day event, which he said will play an important role in educating the public about various government initiatives.
    He highlighted the Council’s efforts in improving education through the establishment of Council Model Schools, terming them as the pride of society.
    The CEC also mentioned the availability of Boys’ and Girls’ Hostels in Srinagar and Jammu, along with tradition of honouring meritorious students from Kargil during Independence and Republic Day celebrations.
    Dr. Akhoon emphasized the importance of education, stating that students in Kargil have a bright future. He further discussed the Council’s efforts to address the recruitment gap for gazetted officers over the past five years by coordinating with the Central and UT-level governments to establish a separate Public Service Commission.
    Additionally, he mentioned his recent visit to Zojila Tunnel’s East and West Portals, expressing optimism about completing the project by 2025 ending.
    The CEC said that the Hill Council in collaboration with MP Ladakh plans to sponsor 8-10 meritorious students of Kargil for UPSC coaching in Delhi after a proper selection process. He encouraged students to prioritise both academic and physical activities.
    Later, he thanked the CBC and Kargil’s media outlets for their proactive role in spreading information and awareness. Earlier, Director, CBC,J&K, Ladakh informed about the programme and welcomed all the guests.
