DC Leh Santosh Sukhadeve convened meeting of Destination Management Committee under Swadesh Darshan 2.0.
Leh, October 28, 2024: The Deputy Commissioner Leh, Santosh Sukhadeve, convened a meeting of Destination Management Committee under Swadesh Darshan 2.0 initiative to discuss the implementation of the scheme today on November 6, at Video Conference Room, DC Office Leh.
A detailed presentation was made to share the development of various projects under the scheme. During the meeting it was informed that the Land Allotment at Igoo-Phey Canal project is still pending. Developments of various recreational activities and spaces at Igoo Phey Canal/ Stok link road, such as cycling and walking ramp, food stalls, souvenir shops, star gazing, glamping, viewpoints and others were also discussed during the project.
Additionally, Visitors Management System, Prayatak Seva Kendra, Themes for Public Art, Content for Web Creation and finalization of the official logo for Leh District were also discussed during the meeting.
Stakeholders from Tourism Industry expressed concerns about the feasibility of the project due to low tourist footfall and suggested relocating the project to Gonpa, to complete the Wheel of Life project. They suggested that the scheme can help to complete this long pending project.
The DC Leh, instructed revenue department to do the required changes and proceed further paperworks of land allotment. He also sought a detailed data on each space from the Swadesh Darshan Team. He also instructed the team to consult tourism stakeholders to get information and suggestion on public art and content for web creation. Suggestions were discussed to take up further with higher authorities.
The team also shared their monthly progress report during the meeting. The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police Leh, AD Tourism Leh, AD Information Leh, Tehsildar Leh and officers and officials from various department. Stakeholders from Tourism Industry also took part in the meeting.
