Outreach Programme on Income Tax (TDS) Awareness Organized at Leh .
Leh, December 6, 2024: The Income Tax Department (TDS) led by Sh. J S Kahlon (IRS), Commissioner of Income Tax (TDS)-1 Chandigarh along with Ms. Priyanka Singla (IRS), Additional Commissioner of Income Tax ,Range TDS Ludhiana and Sh. Gulzar Ahmed , Income Tax Officer (TDS), Srinagar organized an outreach programme today at the Conference Hall, DC Office Leh.
During the outreach programme, a detailed presentation was made on correction statement, new tax provisions, and Traces Portal (the main portal of TDS). An online demonstration of TRACES portal was also given to all participants. The programme aimed to raise awareness on Income Tax and Tax Deducted at Source.
Commissioner of Income Tax (TDS) Chandigarh, Sh. J S Kahlon said that this outreach programme is one of the initiatives of the Government of India to raise awareness about Income Tax . He added that the aim of this programme is to sensitize the DDOs about Income Tax, Correction Statement, New Tax Provisions, and other related concerns.
Further, he also stated that there was no awareness about the Traces Portal, which is the main portal of TDS, and an online demonstration was conducted as part of the outreach programme, which will further benefit the DDOs. The Commissioner of Income Tax ensured that all queries were answered during the programme.
Additionally, he said that contact numbers were shared to address queries in the future through online or phone calls. If there are queries that need to be physically addressed, then the department is ready to come again and resolve the concerns in future.
The programme followed with an interactive session where participants and stakeholders raised their issues and concerns related to Tax Deduction, Income Tax, and other related issues. The outreach programme was part of the overall initiative of the Income Tax Department to reach out to stakeholders and raise awareness.
Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs), Accounts Officers, Assistant Accounts Officers, Accountants, Accounts Assistants, and others from various departments and organizations attended the programme.
