Vice Chancellor, UoL, Prof. Saket Kushwaha pays maiden visit to GDC Kargil.

Kargil, March 03, 2025: The Vice Chancellor, University of Ladakh (UoL) Prof. (Dr.) Saket Kushwaha today paid his maiden visit to Govt. Degree College (GDC) Kargil, marking a significant step in strengthening academic collaboration and institutional development.
Upon his arrival, college NCC cadets escorted Prof. Kushwaha to the Seminar Hall, where Principal Disket Angmo welcomed him with a bouquet and shawl.
The Principal thanked the Vice-Chancellor for his visit and expressed confidence that his vast experience and wisdom would elevate higher education in Ladakh to new heights.
The proceedings continued with a memorandum presentation by College Staff Secretary Syed Mustafa Kamal, who highlighted various challenges faced by the faculty and students and urged the Vice Chancellor to address them in the larger interest.
Addressing the gathering of faculty and students, the VC assured efforts to bridge the trust deficit between them and the higher authorities. He emphasized the importance of having contingency plans and fostering strong character development among students for a successful career.
Prof. Kushwaha assured the teachers’ fraternity that their genuine concerns would be addressed and resolved accordingly. He announced that research centers in the disciplines of Physics, Geology, Forensic Science and Hindi would be established either in the two lead colleges or in the University Campuses as per the availability of requisite infrastructures that would help students and faculties to undergo research activities at the doorstep.
Prof. Kushwaha laid emphasis on the faculties to study UGC guidelines and improve their API with superior records for better opportunities and better career advancements.
Senior Faculty member and IQAC Convenor presented vote of thanks to the Vice Chancellor for gracing the college despite inclement weather condition.
On this occasion, Prof. Kushwaha held a separate interaction with Students and College Student Council Members. He gave a patient hearing to the students and assured to resolve the problems faced by the students during their academic activities.
He appreciated the college sports department and NCC Wing for training the NCC Cadets to participate in RDC at National level. The Vice Chancellor felicitated NCC Cadets who participated in RDC representing the college at National level.
Later, the Vice Chancellor visited College Science Laboratories and Skill Centres. He expressed satisfaction over the academic services and facilities being provided to the students and asked the college authorities to improve services wherever needed.
Prof. Kushwaha held a separate meeting of the faculties after and discussed key issues related to the higher education. Faculty members highlighted certain problems regarding their service matters and academic activities during the discussion.
The VC assured the faculty that genuine issues within the University’s jurisdiction would be addressed, while other concerns would be taken up with the relevant authorities in the larger interest.
