    ADC Leh convened meeting of District Level Committee under Narco Coordination Center (NCORD) Mechanism.
    Leh, August 16, 2024: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Leh, Sh Ghulam Mohd convened a meeting of District Level Committee under Narco Coordination Center Mechanism, regarding the issue of Drug trafficking in Leh district, today on August 16, at VC room of DC office.
    Members of the committee discussed about the prevailing issue of Drug trafficking in Leh district and how to promote awareness among the youth and general public to control this evil practice. Discussion on exchange of information about trends of drug trafficking also took place. Ladakh Police gave a brief about monitoring progresses of investigation in cases having cross state implications.
    District Social Welfare Officer told the committee about the Rehabilitation Centre which is functional and fully equipped. It was discussed that wide publicity must be made through advertisements at different platforms about the Rehabilitation Centre, to create awareness among people, to use this centre as an aid for counselling for the substance abused victims.
    The Health department brought to light, use of medicine such as Pregabalin and substitute of cool lip are also being consumed among youth. District Drug Controller was directed to restrict the sale of this medicine only through prescription. It was also suggested that sale of Chewable tobacco products must be restricted.
    Further, Department of Social Welfare mentioned about taking many steps to control the use of drugs among students under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Nukkad natak, flash mob and other activities. New techniques such as the Club concept are seen as one of the best alternatives for student to engage in different activities and keep their mind busy.
