Advisor Ladakh chairs Governing Body Meeting of ‘Yountan Society’ Samagra Shiksha.

Leh, January 04, 2025: The Governing Body Meeting of ‘Yountan Society’ Samagra Shiksha, UT Ladakh was held under the chairmanship of Advisor Ladakh, Dr. Pawan Kotwal at the Civil Secretariat Leh.
At the outset, Director, School Education Department, UT Ladakh, provided a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation covering key issues such as Financial and Physical progress of projects under Samagra Shiksha; Status of Elementary and Secondary Education; Status of implementation of Vocational Education; Status of implementation of CBSE; Major component-wise approved outlay for 2024-25 was discussed.
The meeting focused on improving educational infrastructure, teacher training, digital learning initiatives, and special interventions for students in UT Ladakh. Concerned officials presented updates on ongoing projects, including school upgradation, monitoring mechanisms, smart classrooms, and vocational education programs.
During the meeting discussions and deliberations were held on the intervention-wise projections under Samagra Shiksha and fresh proposals, Chief Secretary/Advisor to HLG, UT of Ladakh impressed upon the officials that result-oriented capacity-building training for the teachers should be carried out and to adopt the requisite modalities as per the norms for the strengthening of schools.
Highlighting the importance of primary education, the Advisor to HLG, UT of Ladakh said that primary education is utmost important, in this regard all teachers including the ReT teachers should be trained well so that students are better equipped with the requisite learning in literacy and numeracy as they transition to higher classes.
During the meeting, the discussion was held on the poor performance of the students who appeared in CBSE exams last year. The Advisor to HLG, instructed concerned officials to invest on education so that students of UT Ladakh will achieve better results in CBSE exams.
Additionally, Committee members, Kacho Isfindyar Khan and E.S Gergan provided a detailed insights on the monitoring mechanisms in schools, teacher’s assessment workshops that need to be followed, once it’s done educational sector in Ladakh will achieve better results.
Keeping in view the region’s specially abled children, the Advisor instructed the concerned officials to train at least 120 eligible teachers with good aptitude for imparting education to specially abled children over the next three years. This should be done in consultation with CBSE officials. He also directed the concerned officials to procure fortified food items for the hostels/ schools under SSA. He also directed that fortified food should be given to students of 9th to 12th.
The meeting was attended by the Principal Secretary of UT Ladakh, the Administrative Secretary of PD&MD, the Administrative Secretary of the School Education Department of UT Ladakh, the District Magistrate of Leh, the Director of the School Education Department, and other concerned officials. District Magistrate Kargil, CEO Kargil, Kacho Asfindyar Khan, E.S Gergan, and other concerned officials from CBSE joined the meeting virtually.
