Annual College T20 cricket tournament concludes at GDC Drass.

Kargil, Oct 31, 2023: Government Degree College Drass hosted the annual T20 Cricket Tournament for both male and female students of the college which concluded today.
The event held from 27th of October to the 31st of October showcased sporting talent and competitive spirit of the students, promoting gender equality and sportsmanship.
The matches of the girls’ teams took place at the college’s sports ground and matches of the boys teams were played at Kargil Battle school playground Drass, which featured enthusiastic participation from both male and female students.
The event served as a platform to foster camaraderie, sportsmanship, and unity among the students while giving them an opportunity to showcase their cricketing skills.
GDC Drass remains dedicated to promoting gender equality in sports. In this spirit, the tournament welcomed enthusiastic participation from both male and female students, exemplifying the college’s commitment to fostering an inclusive environment.
In the tournament a total of seven teams participated including a team of staff members. In the girls category, the team led by Farhad Anjum of 3rd Semester emerged as winner.
The final match in boys category were played between the tiger hill team and staff team, in which the tiger hill team led by Riyaz Ahmed of 3rd Semester won the final match to the GDC Drass staff team by 6 wickets. Ahtihsham Hussain of 1st Semester was declared as man of the match.
The tournament featured some gripping matches as talented players showcased their cricketing skills. Spectators were treated to thrilling batting, impressive bowling, and outstanding fielding throughout the event.
The tournament concluded with prize distribution ceremony to felicitate the winning teams and individual performers. Trophies were awarded to the champions, runners-up, and outstanding players.
The College’s Principal expressed his delight at the successful organization of the tournament. He highlighted the importance of sports in shaping well-rounded individuals. He congratulated winners and participants, appreciating their passion for the game.
The college sports committee and organizing team, led by Mohd Yassin worked diligently to ensure smooth conduct of the tournament, and their efforts were well-rewarded with the event’s success.
