    KARGIL, AUGUST 25, 2021: As a part of the series of events held as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmed Khan today felicitated the 60 participants who participated in the 14 days basic ski course which was conducted by the Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering (IISM) Kargil in collaboration with the Tourism Department Kargil and Ladakh Ski and Snow Board Association at Linkipal Ski Slope during January this year.
    Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, Assistant Director Tourism Aga Syed Toha, Principal IISM Branch Kargil Colonel J S Dillon, instructors, participants besides other concerned officers were present during the certificate distribution ceremony.
    Speaking on the occasion, CEC Feroz Ahmed Khan congratulated the participants for receiving certificates in basic ski training course and also hailed the efforts of Colonel J S Dhillon for successful conduct of the training camp for the enthusiastic sports lovers of the district.
    CEC Khan said that Kargil has immense potential for winter sports and there is no dearth of talented youth to represent the district in national and international level sporting events. He further stated that LAHDC Kargil is fully committed to provide all kinds of logistic support to develop winter sports infrastructure in the district, adding he urged Colonel J S Dhillon to chalk out a yearly plan to conduct such training sessions for the sports enthusiasts every year.
    Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve while congratulating the participants and medal winners said that Kargil district has huge potential in winter games which can also prove a good source of employment generation for the unemployed youth. He assured that the Kargil Administration will provide full support to develop all kinds of infrastructural needs related to the up- gradation of winter sports in the district.
    Meanwhile Sadiq Ali National Coach IISM Kargil apprised the CEC and DC Kargil about the achievements of Baqir Hussain of Ladakh Ski and Snowboard Association in various national and international level sports events. He said that Baqir has represented the country in Austria in 2015 and also participated in the South Asian Championship in Alpine Skiing in 2017 in Lebanon, adding he has also won 3 consecutive gold medals in national championships.
