    CEC, DC visit Model Middle Schools of Shakar Constituency Take assessment of functioning of schools, infrastructure issues, interact with Village Education Committees, teachers, students.

    Kargil, May 30, 2023: Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmed Khan along with Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve today visited Model Middle Schools of Shakar Constituency.
    During the tour, the CEC took an assessment of functioning of the schools, infrastructure issues and interacted with the Village Education Committees, teachers and students.
    Councilor Shakar, Zakir Hussain, BDC Chairperson Chiktan, Chief Education Officer, Mushtaq Ahmed, SDM Shakar Chiktan, Mohammad Sharif Kakpoori, Tehsildar Shakar Chiktan, Zonal Education Officer, Shakar Chiktan, Principal Govt. Higher Secondary school Shakar, besides other concerned officers accompanied the CEC and DC during the tour.
    During the tour, the CEC visited Govt. Middle Model Schools of Lamsoo, Shangche- Shakar and Shakardo.
    At the GMMS Lamsoo, Khan was informed about various issues related to school such as repair of tin sheet, school building, Class 4th staff for Mid-Day Meal and upgradation to High School.
    The CEC said that the upgradation of High School will be explored subject to increase in enrolment and further sports equipment will be provided on demand to the school.
    The Village Education Committee was informed that the Deputy Commissioner will felicitate the roofing and Bamboo shed work from Untied Grant if the work is minor otherwise it will be placed for next year’s plan.
    The DC directed the School Education Department to provide computers to the school at the earliest.
    The CEC was also informed about the need to remove the debris from irrigation canal and water reservoir and pending work of Lamsoo Bridge under PMGSY. CEC Khan said needful action will be done and directions will be forwarded to concerned departments.
    At Govt. Model Middle School, Shangche Shakar, the CEC along with DC visited various sections, classrooms and interacted with students, where students gave demonstration on various topics of different subjects.
    Khan gave a patient hearing to the grievances and he was informed about the need for construction of multipurpose hall, staff for Mid-Day Meal, room for MDM kitchen, Nallah trailing and boundary wall for school to avoid any damage due to any natural calamity.
    Directions were forwarded to the concerned department to provide computer and other necessary accessories. The CEC assured to place the work in the next financial plan or if possible this year subject to budgetary provision. Related to the Nallah trailing and boundary wall of the school, the CEC assured to do needful.
    At GMMS Shakardo, Khan was informed about repairing of classroom, replacement of roof, appointment of cook for MDM, besides nursery training course for each teacher from the three mentioned schools to improve early childhood education. The CEC assured that needful action will be taken in this regard.
    Addressing the parents, students and VEC at the mentioned schools, he congratulated them for adopting the schools which were earlier on the verge of closure.
    The CEC specially congratulated Councilor Shakar, Zakir Hussain, SDM Shakar Chiktan and ZEO for working on missionary mode in increasing enrolment in Govt. Schools and for inspiring parents and village committee for sending wards to Government Schools. He also applauded teachers of these schools for bringing transformation through quality education.
    Khan said that the schools have gone beyond the patent of a model school which earlier existed in the district in few schools only.
    He said the schools have witnessed a visible change in the past three years and it reflects that parents and teachers are committed and serious towards the education of their children.
    Khan said not only the schools have been revived from closure but the quality has also improved which reflects from the confidence and clarity of students.
    The CEC announced that students of these schools should be taken to exposure tours within the district and any required monetary and other assistance will be provided by the LAHDC.
    While addressing the students, DC Santosh Sukhadeve said education along with hard work is necessary to make dreams a reality and living in a far-off place is not an excuse to reach new heights.
    The Deputy Commissioner cited examples of achievers such as APJ Abdul Kalam and B.R Ambedkar who despite of coming from humble backgrounds achieved heights in their life. He also shared his personal success story and his hard work with the students.
    DC Santosh directed the concerned department to display portraits of successful personalities including national heroes, scientists and thinkers to inspire the students.
    DC Kargil said India is aiming to become a developed country by 2027 and to achieve that goal, quality human resource is required which can only come through education. “We all must try to achieve maximum under it,” DC Santosh said.
    Councilor Shakar, Zakir Hussain shared the challenges he faced to know about the functioning of Government Schools back in 2021 in the Shakar area.
    He said almost all Government Schools of Shakar were on the verge of closure and he decided that the community must adopt them and seven schools were identified.
    The first pilot project was started from ShaKardo Middle School by turning it into a Model School. After its success, the neighbouring schools got inspired to adopt the same model.
    Zakir appreciated SDM Mohammad Sharif Kakpoori for working on missionary project by constituting a committee in collaboration with educated youth of Shakar Chiktan and taking it as a movement that inspired the community to take the issue seriously and revive the Government Schools.
    The Councilor expressed gratitude to CEC and DC Kargil for extending support throughout these years to make this vision a reality and appreciated the CEC for his vision of transforming education in the district.
    The SDM reflected on the education committee and role of volunteers. He expressed satisfaction that endeavours taken in collaboration with public representatives, administration, VEC and teachers have shown promising results.
    Sharif informed that after knowing about the idea, DC Kargil extended support of Rs 10 lakhs which helped them to carry the mission forward and also thanked LAHDC and CEC Kargil for extending support throughout the process.
    CEO Mushtaq Ahmed said that it is remarkable that the concept conceptualized by the CEC and District Administration few years back has been successful and now 40 Model Schools are functioning in the district.
    The dignitaries were received with traditional welcome and cultural performances were presented by the students at the schools.
