    CEC Dr Jaffer visits Drass, takes review of developmental works undertaken by different departments.

    Kargil, Jan 09: Chairman/Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon along with senior officers today visited Drass Sub Division to take assessment of various developmental and infrastructure works.
    Executive Councilor Education, Zakir Hussain, ADC Kargil, Ghulam Mohi-Ud-Din Wani, Councilor Bhimbhat Abdul Samad, Councilor Upper Drass Abdul Wahid, ACD Kargil Ghulam Mohammad, ACR/CEO Kargil Development Authority A.G Zargar , CEO Kargil Mushtaq Ahmed , CMO Kargil Dr Kacho Liaqat Ali Khan, AD Tourism Kargil Aga Syed Toha, SDM Drass, SE R&B,DYSSO Kargil , Exen R&B , Exen PHE, Exen Mechanical, Exen REW, PRI members besides concerned officers accompanied the CEC during the tour.
    During the tour, the CEC Kargil visited various areas to evaluate the progress of work in different sectors, such as Tourism, Youth Services and Sports, Education, and other fields.
    At Chaukiyal, CEC Dr. Jaffer inspected the under-construction site of Govt. Middle School and instructed the concerned to incorporate it into next year’s plan. He also visited the Cafeteria and CFC in the same village and directed concerned to make the building functional at the earliest
    The CEC also toured Horse Polo Stadium and under-construction site of the Ice Hockey Stadium. Upon learning that the Horse Polo Stadium is nearing completion, he instructed the acceleration of the Ice Hockey Stadium construction to ensure timely progress.
    At GDC Drass construction site, the CEC learned that, in line with his instructions, the access road, electricity line, toilets, and submersible pump installations have been completed.
    The CEC instructed the swift completion of the remaining works and emphasized facilitating the resumption of academic classes on the current campus by March 2024.
    Dr. Jaffer visited CHC Drass, assessed patient facilities, and directed officers to prioritize health services for the public’s benefit. He also evaluated the functioning of various hospital wards and sections.
    Later, the CEC conducted a public Darbar at Dak Bangalow, where public delegations highlighted issues in sectors like Tourism, JJM, Road compensation, R&B, Health, Labour, Housing, and more. The CEC assured for resolution of grievances, in a phased manner and proactive steps will be taken to address the concerns.
    The CEC also chaired a review meeting of various departments including Tourism, PHE, Health, Education, R&B, Mechanical Division, REW and other sectors.
    CEC Dr Jaffer directed the Tourism Department for the installation of signage boards from Zojila to Drass. He also instructed the identification of heritage villages and trek routes to enhance tourism in the subdivision.
    The CEC was briefed on ongoing initiatives such as Tourist Reception Centres and Cafeterias in the Subdivision. Efforts are also underway to identify land for the Tourism Colony at Matayen.
    About PHE, Dr Jaffer was informed that the technical work is done and now community ownership is important for the success of the scheme.
    Regarding health, CEC Dr Jaffer was informed about the vacant positions for pharmacists and paramedics at the CHC. He assured that the matter is in progress and will be resolved promptly. He mentioned that measures will be taken for the appointment of a Sonalogist.
    In education, the CEC was briefed on day boarding at all High Schools and Higher Secondaries. CEC Dr Jaffer said for staff vacancy rationalisation exercise is under process. He informed that 400 Hindi teachers have been appointed in schools across the district.
    Regarding R&B, the CEC received information that several road projects are in progress under the District Plan, with some already completed. New roads have been tendered under SDP, and under CCF, tendering for various roads will be completed soon.
    During the meeting, the CEC also took assessment of REW and Mechanical Division and appreciated the all concerned officers and sectors of Drass Sub Division for making efforts in hassle-free movement of traffic on Zojila axis.
    CEC Dr Jaffer thanked all concerned departments for joining the meeting. He expressed commitment of LAHDC to the development of Drass, emphasizing its significance as the gateway to Ladakh.
