    CEC, EC attend Annual School Fest-2024 at Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School Kargil.
    Kargil, Oct 30, 2024: Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC, Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon and Executive Councillor for Education, Zakir Hussain today attended the Annual School Fest-2024 at Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHS), Kargil.
    District Planning Officer, HoD of DIET, Principal of GGHS, Kaneez Fatima, Vice Principal Shamsuddin and Former Councillor from Tai Suru, school’s teaching and non-teaching staff, alumni and parents were also present.
    Addressing the gathering, the CEC commended the organizing committee for conducting the event and expressed admiration for the impressive performances by the students.
    Dr. Akhoon acknowledged the hard work of the alumni, stating that Kargil’s educational standards are exemplary, with high enrollment rates in government schools. He emphasized the vital role of women’s education, saying, “When one girl is educated, an entire family progresses.”
    He expressed his aspiration for Kargil to achieve a 100 percent literacy rate and highlighted the contributions of LAHDC, Kargil for the betterment of education in Kargil. Dr Akhoon encouraged students to embrace competition and explore their unique talents.
    Responding to a memorandum of demands presented by Principal Kaneez Fatima, he assured for necessary steps for inclusion of a rooftop solar installation to reduce electricity costs and announced a grant of Rs 4 lakh from the Untied Fund for the purchase of interactive panel/smart-boards.
    Executive Councillor, Zakir Hussain appreciated the organizers for hosting such a valuable program and acknowledged the efforts of the Town Councillor in enhancing the school’s educational system.
    Principal Kaneez Fatima presented the yearly report of the school’s achievements, including the highest number of female students across Ladakh, fully equipped facilities, and achievements in sports, NCC, and state-level competitions.
    Alumna, Archo Fatima Nissa shared her insights, urging students to focus on monetizing their skills and congratulating the organizers for the successful event.
    During the fest students installed stalls, representing science experiments, traditional medicines of Kargil, employment and self-help initiatives, local cuisine, and cultural artifacts.
    A cultural programme was also organised by the students from the Cultural Club, a dress show promoting unity in diversity, traditional songs, and skits. Vice Principal, Shamsuddin extended a warm welcome to the guests, and the event concluded with a vote of thanks.
