CEC Kargil attends poultry chick distribution program at KVK Kargil-1.
Kargil, November 09, 2024: Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon today attended a collaborative program on poultry chick distribution organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Kargil-1 in partnership with Poultry Division of SKUAST-K and sponsored by ICAR ACRIP, focused on enhancing the poultry sector in the region.
More than 30 farmers actively participated in the program and each received ten poultry chicks of the newly developed breed, “Keystone Brown.”
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Akhoon lauded KVK Kargil for its initiatives aimed at empowering farmers and contributing to the region’s economic growth.
He emphasized that small-scale efforts like poultry distribution, can collectively lead to vast economic development. He praised KVK Kargil for their continuous efforts to introduce innovative agricultural programs.
Reflecting on Kargil’s economic progress, Dr. Akhoon shared his aspirations to see the region attain new heights of prosperity, while welcoming constructive feedback from the community to further improve initiatives by the Hill Council.
The CEC highlighted LAHDC Kargil’s efforts to support local youth, announcing that 40 meritorious students will be sent to Delhi for UPSC preparation, along with other initiatives to provide necessary resources and facilities to the community.
Professor Azmat Alam from SKUAST Shalimar attended as a special guest, acknowledged the commitment of KVK Kargil to rural development. He informed that the breed is recognized for its high egg yield and low feed consumption, making it a suitable choice for the local environment and a valuable addition to the region’s poultry farming.
Dr. Nasreen Fatima welcomed the attendees and expressed gratitude for the CEC’s support, particularly for the recent approval of compounding and blacktopping works at the KVK premises. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Nazir Hussain.
