CEC Kargil attends virtual meeting with Hon’ble LG Ladakh on Tourism Promotion 2025-26.

Kargil, March 13, 2025: Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, today participated in a virtual meeting with Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brig. (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.), to discuss tourism promotion for 2025-26.
The meeting was attended by Executive Councilor for Tourism, Deputy Commissioner Kargil, SSP Kargil, Director of Tourism Ladakh, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Assistant Director of Tourism Kargil, along with representatives from the All Kargil Travel & Trade Association (AKKTA) and the Taxi Union.
During the meeting, CEC Akhoon highlighted various issues to enhance tourism in Kargil. He stressed the need to simplify the tourism registration policy by implementing a single-window system for ease of access.
He also put forth demands like establishing a full-fledged Project Management Unit for tourism in Kargil, subsidies for hoteliers to boost tourism infrastructure, introducing a Central Industrial Policy for tourism-related ventures, implementing the “One Taxi, One Permit” policy for better transport management, lifting restrictions on Mushkoo Valley to promote tourism in the region.
Additionally, CEC Akhoon raised concerns regarding the Capex Budget, urging that there should be no cuts, as more than 95% of the allocated expenditure has already been booked.
Other issues discussed including the arrangement of IL-76 aircraft for the stranded passengers in Srinagar and Jammu, Special allocation of funds to boost tourism in Suru Valley and various other tourism-related matters.
Hon’ble LG Ladakh carefully considered all the concerns raised and issued necessary instructions to the concerned authorities. He also assured that appropriate actions would be taken to address the remaining issues.
