    CEC Kargil, Dr Jaffer Akhoon attends Short Film/Documentary Screening Festival at Leh

    Kargil, Nov 13, 2024: Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon today attended the Short Film/Documentary Screening Festival at Hotel the Zen Ladakh, Leh organized by Department of Information and Public Relations UT Administration of Ladakh.
    Commissioner, Secretary, Social Welfare, Padma Angmo; New District Committee Members; Pramod Jain IAS (Retd.); Former Commissioner Secretary, (Retd. IAS) Kacho Asfyandyar Khan; Joint Director, Information, Ladakh, Imteeaz Kacho; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Ghulam Mohd; Accounts Officer, Directorate of Information UT, Ladakh, Shamim Ahmad Wazir; Assistant Director, Information, Leh, Murtaza Ali; AD, Information, Kargil, Raza Ali Abidi besides other officers, officials, film makers, students of EJM College, faculty members were also present.
    Joint Director, Information, Ladakh, Imteeaz Kacho presented welcome speech.
    At the event, the CEC in his address praised the DIPR Ladakh for providing a platform for cinematographers to showcase their talent. He also highlighted the beauty of Suru Valley in Kargil, Ladakh, which was recently named by National Geographic as one of the 25 best tourist destinations in the world. Dr Akhoon said Suru Valley is a hidden gem that deserves spotlight.
    The CEC also assured filmmakers of all possible support from the Hill Council Kargil. He congratulated the Directorate of Information Ladakh for providing a platform to filmmakers from the region. Additionally, he announced a grant of Rs 10 lakh through the Information Department to produce a film on Suru Valley to highlight its hidden potential.
    Earlier, Commissioner Secretary, Padma Angmo lauded filmmakers of Ladakh who have been telling wonderful stories from the rugged terrain. She encouraged filmmakers to come up with stories to tell it to the audience outside Ladakh.
    Films made by film makers of Ladakh were screened and they were also felicitated. Mike Pandey “Queen of Mountains” was also screened during the event. Later, Accounts Officer, Directorate of Information, UT Ladakh Shamim Ahmad Wazir delivered the vote of thanks.
