Kargil, October 28, 2024: In a focused effort to advance sustainable livestock development in the village of Trespone, Dr. Gulzar Hussain, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Kargil, today distributed cattle feed to around 175 local cow breeders who have utilized artificial insemination (AI) technology to produce calves.
This distribution aims to reward and motivate breeders for adopting AI, a technique that supports improved breeding outcomes and overall cattle productivity.
The Animal Husbandry Department Kargil organized this initiative to demonstrate the advantages of AI in increasing genetic quality and achieving more predictable breeding outcomes.
With AI, breeders can ensure more efficient reproduction rates and improved animal health, ultimately boosting the productivity and economic stability of livestock-rearing communities.
The feed distribution is designed not only as an incentive for current AI users but also to raise awareness among other breeders about the benefits of advanced breeding technologies.
Dr. Hussain highlighted that this initiative aligns with the department’s long-term vision to modernize the livestock sector, ensuring that Animal Husbandry practices are on par with evolving technologies.
He emphasized that AI represents a sustainable and practical breeding option, which, when coupled with proper nutrition and care, can significantly enhance milk production, animal health, and income generation for local farmers.
The beneficiaries of Trespone Village expressed appreciation for the department’s proactive steps, noting that such support encourages them to participate in programs that bring innovation and growth to traditional breeding practices.
The Animal Husbandry Department plans to continue promoting and expanding AI and related initiatives across Kargil, ensuring ongoing support for livestock breeders and enhancing the resilience and productivity of the sector.
This initiative reflects the department’s commitment to advancing animal husbandry practices in Kargil district, laying the foundation for a more productive, sustainable, and economically viable future for livestock farmers in the region.
