Commissioner/Secretary, Tourism & Culture, Kacho Mehboob All Khan chairs meeting on Meri Maati Mera Desh & Har Ghar Tiranga Campaigns
Leh, August 08: Commissioner/Secretary of Tourism & Culture Department, UT Ladakh, Kacho Mehboob All Khan chaired a meeting regarding preparations for the celebration and commemoration of the “Meri Maati Mera Desh Programme” and “Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign” at DC Office Conference Hall, Leh.
The Commissioner/Secretary highlighted the importance & relevance of the event “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign as a tribute to the ‘Veers’ who have made the supreme sacrifice for the country. This campaign shall run through 9th – 15th August 2023 and dedicated events shall be organised in the villages, Panchayats, Urban Local Bodies etc.
During the meeting, the Commissioner/Secretary instructed the concerned departments to make proper arrangements for the events under ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ planned by the Government of India under five pillars. This campaign comprises of many important activities and ceremonies to be conducted at Village/Panchayat, Block, and Urban Local Body levels, Kacho stated.
Kacho also highlighted the essence of celebrating the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign from 13th to 15th August 2023 and instructed the Head of Departments of UT of Ladakh to create awareness, encourage people to bring the Tiranga home and hoist it to celebrate 76 years of India’s Independence. He urged all the officers of the UT to participate extensively in the campaign with full patriotic fervor.
While enquiring about the progress made on arrangements for the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign scheduled for August 13-15, 2023, the Commissioner/Secretary said the event is aimed to hoist the National Flag at all houses, government offices, Panchayat Ghars, and private houses and commercial units, etc. He also instructed the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) officials to ensure the hoisting of the National Flag all passes and on every building of BRO along the highways and other important roads.
Kacho Mehboob informed that 50,000 flags have been procured by the Culture Department from the Ministry of Culture/Ministry of Textiles, GoI while an additional 30,000 flags will be made available by the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department (RD&PRD) with the help of Self-Help Groups and local artisans in the next 3 days.
It was informed that the RD&PR Department will provide flags at the village level where the public can purchase the same at a nominal charge of about Rs. 22/- per flag, which will reflect peoples’ patriotism and love for the country. As required and to ensure effective monitoring and implementation of the two campaigns the Head of Departments and the concerned Block Development Officers (BDOs) have been appointed as nodal officers at the districts and block levels respectively.
The Commissioner/Secretary emphasized on documentation of all programs being organised under the two campaigns and urged all the departments and people of Ladakh to actively participate in these campaigns and exhibit that the UT of Ladakh has the potential to become a model of a responsible, patriotic, and peaceful society.
