    DC Kargil chairs District Level Advisory Committee meeting to review progress, strengthen food safety measures.
    Kargil, Jan 22, 2025: Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse today chaired the District Level Advisory Committee (DLCA) meeting to review progress and strengthen food safety measures in the district.
    The meeting was attended by Additional Superintendent of Police, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Education Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, representative of DPO ICDS, General Manager DIC, AD FCS&CA, and Asst Commissioner Food Safety Kargil.
    The meeting was aimed to review the Action Taken Report (ATR) from the previous DLAC meeting held on September 25, 2024, and assessing the progress of various activities.
    Key highlights included discussions on the enforcement of food safety laws, promotion of fortified food in Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), Mid-Day Meals (MDM), and Public Distribution System (PDS), as well as inspections, sampling, and rapid tests.
    The Deputy Commissioner directed the Food Safety Officer to assign trainers in each block for Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) licenses and registrations.
    The Chief Education Officer was tasked with organizing training sessions at the Zonal Education Office (ZEO) level for schools offering Mid-Day Meals.
    The Horticulture Department was instructed to advise farmers to limit the use of synthetic food color in apricots and ensure it does not exceed standard safety limits.
    The Food Safety, Drugs, and Food Control Organization was directed to organize meetings with Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs) and other concerned departments to conduct training on FSSAI licensing.
    The Tourism Department was instructed to ensure that all Dak Banglows are registered under the FSSAI.
    The Police Department was asked to make the Police Canteen an “Eat Right Campus” and coordinate with Food Safety Ladakh for its implementation.
    The Chief Medical Officer was asked to ensure that the District Hospital Kargil’s canteen maintains high hygiene standards.
    Additionally, ASHAs and ANMs in Chiktan block must receive training on food safety and hygiene.
    The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for all departments to complete the tasks and implement the instructions before the next meeting.
