DC Kargil reviews status of road connectivity, essential services post-snowfall in the District.

Kargil, Dec 28, 2024: Deputy Commissioner Kargil Shrikant Suse today reviewed status of snow clearance as well status of essential services in the district in light of latest snowfall.
Meeting was attended by ADC Kargil, Dy. SP HQ, SDM Drass, Shakar Chiktan, Zanskar, Sankoo, CMO Kargil, EO MC Kargil, AD FCSCA Kargil, Executive Engineer PHE, PDD, Mechanical, PMGSY, General Manager NHIDCL, SDE BSNL, Officer Commanding 55 RCC (Project Vijayak) as well as Tehsildar Kargil and in-charge Emergency Operation Center (EOC).
At the outset, all SDMs and OC 55 RCC briefed latest status of NH-01, NH-301 as well as all other important roads in their jurisdictions. OC 55 RCC informed that snow clearance along NH 01 shall be done on war footing basis. DC directed SDM Drass to monitor the snow clearance operations personally along NH 01 and coordinate with Project Beacon for the snow clearance along the Stretch allocated to them.
In light of snowfall and subsequent temporary disruptions in road connectivity, DC directed Mechanical department as well as OC 55 RCC to ensure all major roads are cleared promptly with deployment of adequate men and machinery.
Similar directions were issued to GM NHIDCL for immediate snow clearance along NH-301.He directed GM to deploy maximum resources along all 8 packages and ensure snow clearance is done at the earliest so that connectivity to Zanskar is achieved immediately. SDM Zanskar, Sankoo as well as Tehsildar Kargil was directed to monitor the situation along NH 301.
DC directed EO MC for prompt snow clearance in the town and asked to personally monitor on ground situation through visit.
Executive Engineer PHE Kargil and Zanskar briefed status of drinking water supply in the district. Direction was issued to ensure drinking water supply to all villages and towns through activation of winter management plan. He also directed PHE department to publicise the call centre contact numbers for benefit of general public.
Executive Engineer PDD was asked for restoration of power supply in the affected areas on prompt basis for ease of public
during the ongoing harsh cold conditions.
Similarly, DC took stock of the availability of food grains, LPG, Petrol, Diesel, Kerosene oil, besides essential medicines in the district. It was informed that adequate stocking of essential supplies and medicines is in place in the district.
He also directed SDMs to establish control rooms in sub divisional levels and coordinate with the district level Emergency Operation Centre (1985-295052). Directions were also issued to check attendance of government employees through surprise visits in the offices by district officers and SDMs.
DC Kargil also directed the SDMs/Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars to monitor post snowfall situation in their respective jurisdictions through ground visits.
CMO as well as BMOs were also directed to ensure that healthcare facilities run smoothly across the district.
He also directed SDE BSNL to ensure all communication towers are in operations and adequate fuel stocking as well as power supply to them.
Considering Losar celebrations, direction was issued to all SDMs and departments to ensure minimum disruptions in the essential services due to snowfall and quick restoration.
