Leh, July 15, 2025: The Deputy Commissioner Leh, Romil Singh Donk (IAS), chaired a meeting regarding the homestay survey in urban areas of Leh. The meeting took place in VC room DC Office, Leh on July 14.
During the meeting it was discussed that many of the home stays, though technically in urban zones, are family run, agriculture based, and provide a cultural homestay experience. Due to their urban classification, they are currently ineligible for benefits under the homestay scheme. To address this concern, DC Leh directed officials to conduct a field survey to identify genuinely deserving units. Mandatory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for homestays were also deliberated, with key points being the identification of the primary source of income for households.
To ensure eligible beneficiaries receive incentives, DC Leh urged AD Tourism to conduct a thorough survey to identify suitable households and instructed the team to review this aspect further. ADDC Leh Sonam Nurboo requested AD Tourism to carry out a field survey to verify that beneficiaries are adhering to the homestay SOPs.
ADDC Leh also stated that another meeting would be convened once the lists of beneficiaries are submitted, prior to the commencement of the field survey.
Attendees at the meeting included AD Tourism Padma Angmo, Executive Officer MC Leh, President, All Ladakh Hotel and Guest House Association Leh and other officials.
