Delegation from LCF, Induslnd Bank & outsourced nurse staff call on Hon’ble Lt. Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd).

Leh, August 17, 2023: A delegation comprising members of Ladakh Cultural Forum (LCF) led by its President Dr Sonam Wangchok called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) at Raj Niwas. Secretary to HLG, Shri Ravinder Kumar, IAS was also present in the meeting.
Dr Wangchok apprised the HLG about the LCF was formed in 1976, which is working for the promotion and preservation of the culture of Ladakh. He requested the HLG about the preservation of Bhoti languages in Ladakh, filling of vacant posts of Bhoti teachers in Government schools, creation of Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) for Bhoti language, inclusion of Buddhist Studies in Higher Secondary Schools, creation of Himalayan Studies in Ladakh University and Government Degree Colleges, inclusion of Bhoti language as medium of teaching in the primary schools of Ladakh, establishment the Ladakh Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages as an autonomous body and inclusion of Bhoti language in 08th Schedule of Indian Constitution.
The HLG said that the Administration is committed to the preservation of the Bhoti language in Ladakh and the proposal for the creation of Bhoti teachers has already been taken up with the Government of India. The HLG assured the delegates to examine the case of the creation of Himalayan Students at Ladakh University and asked them to take up the matter with the Minister of Education in this regard. The HLG stated that the cultural centre will be constructed at the cost of 100 crore rupees in both districts and suggested the delegation to meet Chairman, LAHDC, Leh to discuss the provision of preservation and promotion of art, culture, and languages in the region.
Regional Head, Induslnd Bank, J&K and Ladakh, Shri Pervaiz Khan called on HLG at Raj Niwas. Secretary to HLG, Shri Ravinder Kumar, IAS was also present in the meeting. Shri Khan apprised the HLG about the initiative of the bank in Ladakh. He informed that the bank is contributing to Niti Ayog, skill development, scholarship for underprivileged students and digital awareness programme as part of their CSR initiatives. Shri Khan requested the HLG for empanelment of the bank with the Government departments in Ladakh. He also informed that the bank is enlarging its branches in the rural areas of the region and he also assured to give employment to the local youths.
The HLG commended their contributions to boost the banking sector in Ladakh and said that the administration will examine the eligibility criteria for the empanelment with the Finance Department.
A delegation comprising outsourced staff nurses working at SNM Hospital, Leh, called on the HLG at Raj Niwas. Secretary to HLG, Shri Ravinder Kumar and Director, Health Services, Dr Motup Dorje were present in the meeting.
The delegates informed the HLG that they were being paid a monthly salary of Rs 17,000 by the previous vendor. They also informed that their salary has been revised to Rs 15,000 per month out of which they will get Rs 12,000 in hand due to deduction for EPF. They further informed that they were expecting an increase in their salaries but their salaries have been reduced instead. The delegation requested for intervention in this regard.
The HLG instructed Director Health Services to contact the vendor and look into the matter so that justice is done with the outsourced nurse staff. He also instructed to release the salaries of the outsourced staff working in the Health Department, including NHM, on time for their ease and convenience.
