Delegation of monks from Diskit Monastery & Rehbar-e-Khel Teachers call on Hon’ble Lt Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd).
Leh, 11 February, 2025: A delegation comprising monks from Diskit Monastery led by Nominated Councillor, Venerable Konchok Tsepel, called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat. Commissioner/Secretary to the HLG, Dr. L. Franklin, IAS; Superintending Engineer PWD, Gyatso and Deputy Director Planning, Kacho Hussain were present during the meeting.
Venerable Konchok Tsepel conveyed the gratitude on behalf of monks of Diskit Monastery to the HLG for including the widening and maintenance of road leading to Diskit Monastery in the plan under Special Development Package (SDP). The delegation sought the HLG’s intervention to expedite the commencement of the widening work of the road.
In response, the HLG discussed the issue with Commissioner/Secretary Dr. L. Franklin, IAS, and directed Secretary PWD, Michael D’Souza, IAS, to examine the matter and propose a viable solution.
In another meeting, a delegation comprising Rehbar-e-Khel teachers called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the LG Secretariat. Commissioner/Secretary to the HLG Dr. L. Franklin, IAS; Secretary, Youth Service and Sports, Vikram Singh Malik, IAS and Secretary School Education, Bhanu Prabha, IAS, were present during the meeting.
The delegation apprised the HLG that their regularisation is due after seven years of service as Rehbar-e-Khel teachers. They highlighted that the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir had not transferred the posts along with the policy, resulting in insufficient posts in UT Ladakh to accommodate all ReK teachers after their regularisation.
In response, the HLG instructed Commissioner/Secretary, Dr. L. Franklin, IAS, to release an order from the General Administration Department to form committee to study issues pertaining to Rehbar-e-Khel and Rehbar-e-Talim teachers. The HLG stated that the matter will be decided based on the findings of the committee.
