    Delegations from Choskore constituency, DIHAR’s daily wagers/labourers & GM Pore call on Hon’ble Lt Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd)

    Leh, Feb 14, 2024: A delegation from Choskore constituency, Kargil led by Shri Bashir Ahmed called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat. Commissioner/Secretary, Dr Vasanthakumar N, IAS; Secretary to HLG, Shri Ravinder Kumar, IAS; Secretary, Shri Michael D’Souza, IAS; Director of Health Services, Dr Motup Dorje and Deputy Secretary, Education, Smt Sumera Shafi, JKAS, were in the meeting.
    Shri Bashir requested the HLG to upgrade Govt Middle School, Archo-Choskore to Govt High School. He also requested to sanction lift irrigation for Chutuk and the installation of mobile towers to improve the telecommunication network for Sapi village. He further requested the construction of the Animal Husbandry Centre building for Choskore constituency
    Shri Bashir requested the construction of a playground for children. He also requested the HLG for his intervention in providing potable drinking water to the people of Choskore constituency.
    The HLG asked Shri Bashir to submit the proposal regarding the lift irrigation project and the construction of the Animal Husbandry Centre and playground for children to Chairman/CEC LAHDC Kargil. He asked the Education Department to look into the feasibility of upgrading Govt Middle School to High School. He also asked Shri Michael to look into the issue of providing potable drinking water to the people of Choskore constituency.
    A delegation comprising daily wagers/labourers working at Defence Institute of High-Altitude Research (DIHAR) led by Smt Deachen Dolker called on the HLG at the LG Secretariat. Secretary to HLG, Shri Ravinder Kumar, IAS; Assistant Labour Commissioner, Shri Sandeep Singh, JKAS; Technical Officer, DIHAR, Shri Norboo were in the meeting.
    Smt Deachen informed the HLG that daily wagers/labourers like her have been working at DIHAR for the last two decades. She also informed that their salaries have not been enhanced since 2019 and also the non-entitlement of leaves to them. She further informed that they are being paid a monthly salary of Rs 12,700 and requested the HLG for enhancement of their salaries.
    Shri Norboo informed the HLG that the daily wagers/labourers at DIHAR are being paid at Rs 512 per day against Rs 450 fixed by the Labour Department of UT Ladakh. He also informed that these daily wagers/labourers are entitled to Employees State Insurance (ESI) and EPF.
    Assistant Labour Commissioner, Shri Sandeep, informed the HLG about taking up the matter of moving of labourers from Ladakh classified into category and city from Area C to A with the Chief Labour Commissioner so that the labourers are entitled to better salaries.
    The HLG assured the daily labourers that the case has already been taken up with Chief Labour Commissioner, Government of India regarding moving them from Area C to A so that they receive better salaries. He asked them to wait for an official order from the Chief Labour Commissioner, GoI.
    A delegation from GM Pore led by former Executive Councillor, Shri Skalzang Wangyal Gara, called on the HLG at the LG Secretariat.
    Shri Wangyal expressed gratitude to the UT Administration led by the HLG on behalf of the people of GM Pore for providing gynaecologist and other medical staff for Government Hospital GM Pore and for carrying out work of upgradation of Govt High School at GM Pore.
