Directorate of Mission Shakti, NISD conduct Training of Trainers on transgender identities, inclusion at DIET Kargil.
Kargil, October 24, 2024: Directorate of Mission Shakti (Social and Tribal Welfare) in collaboration with National Institute of Social Defence (NISD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, GoI today conducted Training of Trainer’s program on Transgender Identities and Inclusion at DIET Kargil.
The training was conducted by Deachen Angmo, Gender Specialist, Mission Shakti. The purpose of the training was to initiate conversation around understanding how gender functions in people’s lives on a day to day basis and how it is seen.
Additionally, the training aimed to orient the participants on Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019 along with salient points from the Act.
Gulzar Danish, lecturer DIET spoke about the mandates in educational spaces in Trans Act and how these institutions can be made safe for students who are gender non-normative.
