EC Yakzee-led delegation calls on Hon’ble Lt Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd).
Leh, June 13, 2024: A delegation comprising Councillors led by Executive Councillor, Tashi Namgyal Yakzee called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the Lieutenant Governor Secretariat. Commissioner/Secretary to HLG, Shri L Franklin, IAS; Secretary Rural Development Department, Shri Amit Sharma, IAS and Secretary, Tourism and Culture, Shri Vikram Singh Malik, IAS, were also present in the meeting.
Executive Councillor Shri Tashi Namgyal Yakzee apprised the HLG of the 4G saturation project by BSNL in Changthang and informed about the lack of telecommunication connectivity in the area. He requested the HLG’s intervention in expediting the completion of the saturation project for the benefit of the people in the Changthang area. He informed the HLG about the vacant post of Block Development Officers (BDOs) in various blocks of Leh district and requested the HLG’s intervention in filling up the vacant posts at the earliest.
Councillor, Skyu Markha, Shri Sonam Nurboo informed the HLG about the approval given for the widening of the Chiling-Skyu-Markha road under Special Development Package (SDP) for which the Administrative Approval (AA) is still awaited. He requested the HLG sanction AA for the said road at the earliest. He also informed the HLG about the delay in the ongoing construction of the cafeteria at Sumdha Rafting Point due to the halting of the work by the Wildlife Department. Shri Nurboo requested the HLG’s intervention in the continuation of the ongoing work.
The HLG asked Councillor Skyu Markha to meet Secretary, PWD, Shri Micheal D Souza, IAS, to take up the matter of administrative approval of the road with him. The HLG directed Wildlife Warden, Leh, Shri Dhawan Kumar Rawat, IFS, to restore the ongoing work of the construction of the cafeteria at Sumdha. The HLG also directed Secretary, GAD Ladakh, Shri Micheal D’Souza to conduct an exercise on the rationalisation of officers in UT Ladakh due to the shortage of BDOs.
