Forest Department Kargil observes National Pollution Control Day .
Kargil, Dec 03, 2024: Forest Department Kargil in collaboration with Ladakh Pollution Control Committee Kargil today observed the National Pollution Control Day at Forest Park Bemathang Kargil.
The day commemorates victims of the Bhopal Gas Tragedy, one of the world’s worst industrial disasters and serves as a reminder of the importance of sustainable practices and strict environmental regulations.
A drawing competition was held among 30 students of Mutaharry Public School Baroo, in which Mohd Irfan of Class 8th secured 1st position, Mehbooba of Class 10th secured 2nd position and Tabassum of 10th got 3rd position. The certificates of participation were also distributed among the students.
Divisional Forest Officer, Mohd Ali (SFS) along with Range Officer Kargil and other office staff members were also present at the venue. A pledge for National Pollution Control Day was recited by an LPCC member while two minute silence was observed in the honour of the Bhopal Gas Tragedy victims.
Mehdi, Forester Kargil, delivered his speech on the importance of pollution control and motivated the students of the school for their contribution, highlighting their keen interest in ensuring the success of the program.
The DFO Kargil also delivered a message emphasizing the importance of using eco- friendly alternatives, reducing carbon footprint and creating a cleaner, greener and healthier world for future generation and urged the students to unite in addressing the pressing issue of pollution in Kargil.
