    Foundation Laying Ceremony of Druk Padma Karpo School Branch at Skampuk, Nubra.
    Nubra, October 29, 2024: The foundation stone-laying ceremony for the new branch of Druk Padma Karpo School took place in Skampuk, Nubra. The event was presided by His Eminence Skyabjay Thuksey Rinpoche, Founder and Chairman of Druk Padma Karpo School, with Hon’ble Deputy Chairman LAHDC Leh Shri Tsering Angchuk as the Chief Guest.
    The event began with Sangs offerings, followed by a cultural program. Students of Druk Padma Karpo School delivered a captivating performance, exhibiting diverse talents, including kung fu and traditional Ladakhi dance. Villagers from Skampuk, Tsersay, Skuru, Udmaru, and Hundri also took part in the cultural performance, reflecting the vibrant heritage of Nubra.
    The program was attended by Chakzok of Hemis and Chemday Monasteries, Hon’ble EC Agriculture Shri Stanzin Chosphel, Hon’ble EC Minority Shri Ghulam Mehdi, Hon’ble Councillor Panamik Shri Tsering Sandup, Hon’ble Councillor Hunder Shri Kunzang Lotus, Deputy Commander of the 102 Infantry Brigade Nubra, Commanding Officer of DIHAR Nubra, OC of 69 Medium Regiment Partapur, Tehsildar Nubra, Heads of Departments from Nubra Subdivision, religious leaders, society presidents, and Nambardars from Nubra Valley. The event saw a large gathering from Nubra region.
    Principal, Druk Padma Karpo School Leh commenced the ceremony with a welcome speech, narrating the school’s journey from its start in 2001 with 88 students to its current enrollment of nearly 1,000. She acknowledged His Eminence Thuksey Rinpoche’s dedication to the school’s growth, crediting His Holiness Drukpa Rinpoche for the his blessings.
    In his address, Hon’ble Deputy Chairman LAHDC Leh, Shri Tsering Angchuk, commended Druk Padma Karpo School as one of the region’s premier institutions. He highlighted the school’s balanced approach, nurturing both academics and holistic development. Shri Angchuk congratulated community of Nubra Valley for this new educational opportunity and expressed gratitude to His Eminence for selecting Nubra for the new branch.
    His Eminence Thuksey Rinpoche expressed heartfelt thanks to His Holiness Drukpa Rinpoche, Skampuk Nambardar for the land donation, and LAHDC Leh for their steadfast support. He also extended his appreciation to Councillor Panamik, Shri Tsering Sandup, Councillor Hunder, Shri Kunzang Lotus, and the Nambardars of nearby villages for their support. His Eminence emphasized the importance of education for societal progress, noting that with Nubra’s recent growth, the time has now come to prioritize education to strengthen the community’s foundation.
    Concluding the ceremony, Councillor Hunder, Shri Kunzang Lotus, thanked everyone who contributed to the event’s success and encouraged the community to rally behind school’s future.
