GDC Drass conducts cleanliness drive.

Kargil, August 12, 2023: To foster community engagement and promote the values of cleanliness and hygiene, the National Service Scheme (NSS) and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) Units of Govt. Degree College Drass today organized 2-day cleanliness drive in Rambirpora and College Campus.
The event was conducted under the banner of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, commemorating the 76th Independence Day. The initiative witnessed active participation of volunteers, students, faculty members, and local residents as well.
The event comprised various activities, such as cleanliness and sanitation awareness sessions, waste collection and disposal and beautification of public spaces.
On the first day of the drive, volunteers gathered at GDC Drass to take part in an informative session on the significance of cleanliness and its impact on overall well-being. It was followed by a collective effort to clean and sanitize the college’s premises by all the participants.
The second day of the drive witnessed an energetic group assembling at Rambirpora to extend the scope of the cleanliness drive. The participants collaborated to clean up the vicinity, removing debris, and focusing on waste segregation to ensure effective disposal.
Student volunteers from the college also highlighted the importance and role of UBA to the locals. Speaking about the event, Principal, Dr Amjad Ali Abassi, expressed his gratitude towards the enthusiastic participation of all the volunteers and participants.
He emphasized the importance of community-driven initiatives in creating lasting and positive impacts on the environment and society.
Manzoor Hussain, coordinator of NSS, Kaneez Fatima, co-convenor of NSS and Dr Imtiyaz Hussain, coordinator of UBA, played a valuable role in making the drive successful.
The event concluded on a high note, with participants pledging to continue maintaining the cleanliness of their surroundings and spreading awareness about hygiene practices. The efforts put forth by the volunteers stand as a testament to the dedication towards the betterment of society and the nation as a whole.
