Kargil, April 23, 2025: With profound grief and a deep sense of solidarity, Government Degree College, Drass today observed a condolence gathering to mourn the tragic loss of 27 innocent civilians who were killed in the horrific militant attack in Pahalgam on 22 April 2025.
The entire college community including faculty and students stood united in sorrow and reflection. A two-minute silence was observed in the Seminar Hall followed by a special prayer for the souls of the victims and for the strength and healing of their bereaved families.
Addressing the emotionally charged gathering, Principal Dr. Amjad Ali Abassi strongly condemned the attack, calling it a barbaric act against humanity and a grave threat to the nation’s peace and harmony.
“The killing of innocent civilians is not only a tragedy, but also a stain on the conscience of humanity. Terrorism in all its forms is an evil that must be resisted with unity, awareness, and courage,” Dr. Abassi stated.
He urged the students to be alert and aware, to never be misled by hate or violence, and to always uphold the values of truth, justice, and communal harmony. He reminded the gathering that education and unity are the strongest weapons against terror and ignorance.
