    GDC Drass organizes workshop on drug abuse, independence rally.
    Kargil, August 12, 2024: GDC Drass in collaboration with District Social and Tribal Welfare Officer Kargil and Education Department today organized an independence rally and workshop on drug awareness with the theme “Viksit Bharat Ka Mantra, Bharat ho Nashe se Swatantra” under the supervision of Principal GDC Drass, Dr Amjad Ali Abassi.
    The program was aimed to raise awareness about harmful effects of drugs. The program started with a welcome address by Dr Amjad Ali Abassi, who briefed students about the purpose of organizing an awareness program on substance abuse.
    At the outset, Imtiyaz, Manager District Drug De-Addiction Centre (DDAC) Kargil took a pledge to follow the path of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) and to take responsibility to eradicate drug abuse from the country with their abilities.
    Speaking at the event, Mohd, Project Coordinator DAAC emphasized that the youth should take social and moral responsibility to tackle drug abuse. He talked about legal and illegal drugs available in the market and their misuses. During his speech, he also addressed the objectives of NMBA as a significant move towards a drug-free society.
    Shamma Zohra, Project Coordinator DAAC, also shared valuable thoughts regarding the reasons and repercussions of drug abuse. In her speech, she said that experiment and peer pressure often lead to substance abuse among young boys and girls. She motivated students to aware others regarding the consequences of substance abuse. Assistant Professor, Archo Fatima conducted the program proceedings.
    The program was followed by an awareness cum independence rally which started from main market Drass and culminated at Dak Bungalow to create awareness among the public about the dangers of using illicit drugs and its effect on health and society.
    Students also raised national slogans with pride and honor ahead of Independence Day. A total of 120 students form GDC Drass, HSS Drass and HS Bhimbet participated in the program. The program was concluded at Dak Bungalow with vote of thanks by Dr Amjad Ali Abassi who thanked the organizers of the event, students and SHO Drass for their cooperation in making the program successful.
