GDC Drass students complete 7-day basic skiing course at Tiger Hill Adventure Ski Camp.

Kargil, March 09, 2025: Students from High-Altitude Trekking Guide Program and Department of Physical Education & Sports, Govt. Degree College (GDC), Drass, successfully completed a 7-day Basic Skiing Course on March 8 at Tiger Hill Adventure Ski Camp, organized by the Indian Army at Kargil Battle School, Drass.
The camp provided hands-on training in fundamental skiing techniques such as gliding, turning, stopping, and slope navigation.
Dr. Amjad Ali Abassi, Principal of GDC Drass, praised the initiative, stating, “This collaboration with the Indian Army offers invaluable exposure, preparing students for careers in adventure tourism and outdoor leadership.”
Shujaat Ali Mir, Coordinator, Skill Development Course, emphasized the importance of skiing for trekking guides, while Suhail Ahmad Bhat, High-Altitude Trekking Guide Instructor, said skiing enhances endurance and technical proficiency, vital for high-altitude professionals.
Mohd Yassin, College Director of Physical Education and Sports, said, “Learning skiing in a professional setting opens new opportunities in adventure and competitive sports.”
