    GDC Kargil celebrates World Mental Health Day.

    Kargil, Oct 10, 2023: Government Degree College Kargil in collaboration with the Psychology Department, Mental Health Unit District Hospital Kargil, and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, organized World Mental Health Day that showcased and highlighted this year’s theme “Mental Health As a Universal Human Right”.
    The event brought together prominent figures from the district, including Ghulam Mohi-ud-in Wani ADC Kargil, and Dr Munawar, Chief Medical Officer, Dr Liyaqat Ali Medical superintendent, Syed Jamal, District Social Welfare Officer, Dr. Fatima Nissa Coordinator Mental Health Unit DHK, Razia Parveen Incharge Principal GDC Kargil and others. Faculty members from the Psychology Department and the Principal Investigator of Unnat Bharat Unit were also present.
    The theme emphasized on the need for equitable access to mental health support and care for all individuals, regardless of their background or circumstances.
    The event featured a diverse range of activities aimed at raising awareness about mental health and combatting the stigma that often surrounds it. Students from GDC Kargil took center stage, presenting skits, songs, and art exhibitions that conveyed the significance of mental well-being.
    Young artists from Kargil performed expressive arts which graciously depicted their art on the theme of this year through a unique perspective on mental health issues.
    The CMO Kargil in his speech emphasized the collective responsibility of society to ensure that everyone has access to the support and care they need for their mental well-being. He also expressed gratitude to organizers, students, and participants who made the event successful.
    The event concluded with a message of unity and a call for action. Attendees were encouraged to continue conversations about mental health, extend support to those in need, and actively participate in breaking down the barriers surrounding mental health issues.
    The celebration at the college not only served as a platform to promote mental health awareness but also highlighted the importance of inclusivity and compassion in addressing mental health challenges.
