    GDC Kargil organizes awareness program on substance abuse.
    Kargil, October 01, 2024: Mental Health and Eco Club of GDC Kargil, in collaboration with Kargil Sentinel Brigade today organized a drug awareness programme in the Seminar Hall of GDC Kargil.
    The event was aimed to educate students about harmful effects of drug use and to promote a drug-free society. The program began with a welcome address by Dr. Hamid, Convenor of the Mental Health and Eco Club, who outlined the importance of raising awareness about substance abuse among students.
    The guest speakers for the event were Captain Manisha from the Army Medical Hospital, Kargil, and Sub-Inspector Feroz from the Ladakh Police.
    Captain Manisha delivered a powerful and informative lecture on drug abuse, shedding light on the types of drugs, the dangers of addiction, and the far-reaching consequences of substance abuse. Her lecture emphasized the severe health implications, particularly the effects on the brain and the resulting behavioral changes.
    Sub-Inspector Feroz focused on the legal aspects of drug abuse, discussing the penalties for possession and trafficking of drugs under the Psychotropic Substances Act of 1988. He highlighted the critical role of law enforcement and the need for collaboration between authorities and the community in fighting the drug menace.
    The event was met with enthusiastic participation from the students, highlighting the significance of addressing this critical issue.
