    GDC Kargil organizes BLS awareness workshop in collaboration with Ortho and Spine Centre Amritsar.
    Kargil, November 12, 2024: Government Degree College Kargil in collaboration with Ortho and Spine Centre Amritsar today conducted a workshop on Basic Life Support(BLS) at the college’s Seminar Hall. Faculty members and student volunteers from NSS and NCC of the college attended the session.
    Dr. Manish Manocha, Consultant Orthopedic, Trauma & Joint Replacement Surgeon from Ortho and Spine Centre presented an engaging and informative session, the objectives of this session was to recognise the benefits of obtaining first aid and CPR certification, identifying proper procedures for a variety of medical emergencies, assist in administering first aid when a co-worker is injured and doing no harm to the patient.
    An engaging quiz was also held at the onset of the session after defining the objectives and the students actively took part in the quiz regarding the theme of the session followed by practical demonstrations of helping in emergency and the basic rules regarding it, like airways obstruction, breathing and circulation.
    It was also stressed that the patient shouldn’t be further harmed and the scene be evaluated properly in case of such emergencies like roadside trauma to avoid fatal injuries.
    The workshop also included administering CPR, checking responses, knowing about fractures, pain management and patient’s safe shifting technique and moving in case of both simple and compound factures.
    Head injury with bleeding and without bleeding, it’s common symptoms and the techniques involved in managing such injuries was also discussed in the workshop.
    In such cases it was advised that the patient must be immediately shifted to hospital as soon as possible.
    Digital microvascular Replantation due to amputations, Heart Attacks, Brain Hemorrhage, electrical shock, Heat exhaustion, and Epileptic Seizure and their preventive measures and basic management techniques were also discussed during the workshop.
    The experts also suggested lifestyle modifications and regular exercise as preventive measures for certain common lifestyle diseases and demonstrated the techniques on the spot.
