GDC Kargil organizes hands on training cum workshop on SDS-PAGE under DBT STAR College Scheme.

Kargil, Feb 24, 2025: Department of Biotechnology and Biochemistry, Government Degree College Kargil today organized a one day workshop and hands on training on SDS PAGE under DBT STAR College Scheme.
The program started with a welcome address by Mohd Raza, Assistant Professor, Biotechnology, GDC Kargil. The technical session was conducted by Dr Mehmood Ali, Assistant Professor, Biochemistry, GDC Kargil.
In the first technical session, the expert presented a detailed presentation on the theoretical perspectives of the technique. Explanations regarding principles and applications of SDS PAGE were conveyed.
The second session started post lunch and students were given hands on training on buffer preparation, gel casting, gel running and protein visualization. The students enthusiastically participated in the various steps of the session.
Around 61 participants from various institutes like School of Agriculture Sciences and Technology UoL, University of Ladakh-Kargil campus and Government Degree College Kargil participated in the workshop.
The program was followed by question-answer and valedictory session, wherein certificates were distributed among participants. The session was concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr.Mohd Raza, and on behalf of the organizing committee. He thanked technical expert Dr. Mehmood Ali, the participants, the Principal of the college Prof. Disket Angmo for cooperation, I/C principal of the college Prof. Zahoor Ahmad for gracing the occasion and DBT New Delhi for the support.
