GMMS Biathang celebrates annual day.
Kargil, Dec 03, 2024: Government Model Middle School Biathang, UT Ladakh, celebrated its Annual Day with enthusiasm and grandeur, showcasing the progress and achievements of the institution over the past year.
The event was graced by prominent dignitaries, parents, and students, making it a memorable occasion. Kacho Mohd Feroz, Executive Councillor for Tourism and Urban Development, LAHDC, Kargil, was the chief guest on the occasion. Tahir Hussain Zubdavi, Director of CA&PD and Sports UT Ladakh, and Mohd Amin, Councillor Poyen, were guests of honour while as CEO Kargil SD Namgyail, and renowned educationist Gulzar Hussain Danish participated as special guests.
Students presented vibrant cultural programs, thought-provoking skits, and a spectacular sports demonstration, including a special performance by the school’s Taekwondo team.
The chief guest inaugurated a state-of-the-art modular kitchen under the Poshan Abhiyan initiative, a significant addition to the school’s infrastructure. The effort was highly appreciated by all attendees.
Students showcased science projects and art & craft products, reflecting their creativity and practical learning. The stalls were widely praised for encouraging innovation and skill development among students by the guest and parents.
Outstanding students, teachers, and contributors were felicitated with awards and mementos for their exemplary performance and dedication.
Kacho Mohd Feroz commended the school for setting a benchmark in education and praised the efforts of the teachers, VECs, and the community. He assured support for the school’s demand for upgradation to high school status and directed the CEO to address immediate concerns.
Tahir Hussain Zubdavi appreciated the active involvement of the local community in transforming the school into a model institution. He acknowledged the remarkable growth in enrolment and overall development.
Councillor Poyen Mohd Amin announced a Rs 4 lakh grant from his Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for minor works at the school, ensuring prompt support for infrastructure development.
Gulzar Hussain, the Headmaster of the school, presented a brief overview of the school’s achievements and said that the school has grown significantly, with student strength of nearly 200 compared to just six in 2016.
He said that the students represented UT Ladakh in national-level events, including the SGFI National Taekwondo Games, painting, roller skating, and other academic competitions.
The school’s commitment to academic and extracurricular excellence was highlighted as a key driver of its progress.
The school community, supported by the VECs and local leaders, remains committed to further enhancing the quality of education and infrastructure. The dignitaries lauded the institution for its exemplary contributions to the UT Ladakh education system and pledged continued support.
