    Growth monitoring devices distributed to 13 ICDS Projects in UT Ladakh.

    Leh, Dec 11, 2023: To combat malnutrition among children, Department of Social and Tribal Welfare, Ladakh distributed growth monitoring devices such as adult weighing scale, Salter scale, Infantometer, Stadiometer to all 13 Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) projects in the Union Territory of Ladakh on December 11.
    This move aims to identify and address Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM) and Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) among children promptly.
    Deputy Chairman, LAHDC, Leh, Tsering Angchuk graced the occasion as the chief guest.
    The growth monitoring device a pivotal component of Mission Poshan 2.0, empowers the Anganwadi Workers with real-time data to assess the nutritional status of children. By implementing this state-of-the-art technology, the mission ensures timely intervention for children identified with MAM or SAM, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of nutrition programs.
    Speaking about the mission, the Director Social and Tribal Welfare Department said that they are committed to the holistic well-being of every child in Ladakh. She further added that provisioning of growth monitoring devices across all ICDS projects, they strengthen their ability to identify malnutrition early on and initiate appropriate measures swiftly. Also, added that this is a crucial step towards ensuring that no child in Ladakh is left behind in terms of nutrition and health.
    It was informed that the growth monitoring devices are equipped with advanced technology, allowing healthcare professionals to monitor key growth indicators and nutritional parameters accurately.
    Mission Poshan 2.0 acknowledges the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders, including ICDS employees, healthcare professionals, PRIs and local communities, in making this initiative a reality. By fostering a united front, the mission endeavors to create a sustainable impact on the nutritional landscape of Ladakh.
