Hon’ble Lt Governor, Brig (Dr) BD Mishra attends closing ceremony of Indian Swachhata League 2.0.

Leh, Sep 17, 2023: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) attended the closing ceremony of Indian Swachhata League 2.0 at Eco Park, Leh.
Stating that cleanliness is the most important aspect for staying healthy, the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) the youth and citizens of Ladakh towards the cleanliness of their areas. The HLG lauded the participants of the waste to art and painting competition and distributed the prizes among the winners and runner ups.
He commended the local artists of Ladakh Theatre Association for the impactful skit on cleanliness. He added that the people of Ladakh should adopt habits of cleanliness in their daily lives and asked the parents to teach their children about cleanliness from a young age itself. The HLG stated that Ladakh is the hub for tourism and there should be a collective effort to ensure cleanliness the tourist spots. He also spoke of the need to clean the water sources.
Deputy Chairman, LAHDC, Leh Shri Tsering Angchok expressed gratitude to the Municipal Committee, Leh for the initiative of cleanliness drive under Indian Swachhata League in Leh. He said that the students and volunteers from different organisations participated in the cleanliness drive in various locations in the district. He informed that 27 segregation sheds were constructed in the rural areas of the district.
Principal Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department, Ladakh, Shri Sanjeev Khirwar presented a detailed overview on the various initiatives and activities by the department.
President, Municipal Committee, Leh, Dr Ishey Namgyal presented a vote of thanks.
