    Hon’ble Lt Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) attends Veterans Rally & Pension Adalat 2023.

    Leh, Aug 22, 2023: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) attended the two-day Veterans Rally and Pension Adalat 2023 organised by Fire and Fury Corps at Rinchen Auditorium.
    Terming the Veterans Rally and Pension Adalat an important activity and all the people gathered for the event as honourable, the HLG stated that the current officials will also become ex-servicemen one day just like him and other ex-servicemen. Highlighting the ethos of Naam, Namak and Nishan of the Indian Army as the biggest pedestal of nationalism, he also stated that the Army work for national security and sacrifices everything to maintain the nation’s integrity and sovereignty.
    Highlighting initiatives taken by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, the HLG stated that the One Rank One Pension scheme has immensely benefited the ex-servicemen. He commended LAHDC Leh led by CEC Shri Tashi Gyalson for felicitating Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre (LSRC) on the occasion of dPal rNgam Duston on August 5. Stating that the nation needs soldiers who are young, dedicated and brave, he highlighted the Agnipath scheme and the benefits availed by the Agniveers. The HLG emphasised the re-employment and resettlement of Agniveers after their four-year service is over and the need for comprehensive planning in this regard.
    Speaking on the importance of the Army’s role in national security, the HLG stated that the jawans of the Indian Army should not let the enemy forces take even an inch of land from India. He asked the ex-servicemen to come forward and volunteer in case of natural disasters and social conflict in Ladakh as they are well-prepared to deal with such situations.
    The HLG appealed to each ex-servicemen and the Veer Naris to motivate at least one Ladakhi youth to join the Indian Army as Agniveers so that none of the Agniveer recruitment vacancies go unfilled. He wished for the success of the Veterans Rally and Pension Adalat and expressed hope that the ex-servicemen, Veer Naris and Veer Matas will avail the benefit of the event to resolve their issues.
    The HLG felicitated Veer Naris and War Heroes during the event.
    Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Shri Tashi Gyalson, highlighted the important role played by the Indian in ensuring national security and also the role of Ladakhis in working collectively with the Indian Army to fight the enemy forces. He stated that the Indian Army’s contribution to the overall development of Ladakh will be remembered forever. He highlighted the efforts made by LAHDC Leh to provide assistance to ex-servicemen, Veer Naris and Veer Matas, including the distribution of 500 kanal of land to them; promotion of homestays in Ladakh as Ibex homestays; development of children’s park, construction of the entry gate, installation of street lights at the War Colony in Ibex Colony; financial assistance provided to ex-servicemen societies for developmental activities, etc. He assured to provide all possible assistance for the welfare of ex-servicemen, Veer Naris and Veer Matas. Shri Gyalson informed that the Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre was felicitated with the dPal rNgam Duston award for their valuable contribution to the overall development of Ladakh.
    Earlier, GOC Sub Area, Fire and Fury Corps, Leh, Major General, SS Bakshi, in his welcome address, highlighted that the ex-servicemen, Veer Naris and Veer Matas will be provided assistance and information on various central government schemes and for redressal of their issues.
    President, Ex-Servicemen League, UT Ladakh, Hon Captain Sonam Morup gave the vote of thanks.
    The HLG also inspected the stalls and inquired about the various service being provided to the ex-servicemen, Veer Naris and Veer Matas at the stalls.
